Evan L. Lipton joined Mr. Shargel’s firm as an associate in 2005. Mr. Lipton graduated from Vassar College with honors in sociology and received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, where he was an Edward Sparer Public Interest Fellow and a Carswell Merit Scholar. While at Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Lipton participated in the Second Look Clinic, investigating and litigating innocence claims by incarcerated New Yorkers. After a first year fellowship defending death penalty cases at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center, Mr. Lipton joined Mr. Shargel’s firm as a summer associate and continued on during his final year of law school.
Prior to entering law school, Mr. Lipton was an investigator for the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board, where he investigated allegations of police misconduct and prepared substantiated cases for disciplinary hearings.
Mr. Lipton is a member of the New York State Bar and is admitted to practice in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
